A few years ago, I used to write these incredibly long emails about nothing in particular and send them to a handful of unfortunate friends. I'm not sure if anyone ever read the emails in their entirety, but it just made me feel better that my thoughts were out there with my friends. However, I would sometimes get (irrationally) annoyed if a friend questioned me about something that had already been addressed in one of the mass emails.
In one of the emails, I proposed the practice of listing all your flaws on flashcards and showing the flashcards to people who could potentially become your friend/partner.
This way, years down the road, you couldn't turn to me and say, "Fuck. Justina, I had no idea you were so neurotic."
Because then I would just flatly say, "It was on Flashcard #137 in the Deck of Flaws I showed you when we first met 10 years ago. So you should have already known and accepted my neuroses. Which is why you can't bail on me now. I told you from the beginning! You're mine--FOR LIFE!"
In theory, this plan of mine could work very well! In practice... well, I've really been too lazy to write down a list of my flaws. Besides, wouldn't my self-esteem take a big hit from this exercise?
Anyway, what I am about to reveal isn't a flaw. It's more like a Little Known Fact.
I'm addicted to news websites. I check numerous sites throughout the day: CNN, Globe and Mail, New York Times, Reuters, BBC...
It's gets ridiculous at times (see this bit I wrote earlier about information bombardment) but it also leaves me with random knowledge about things like the Iraqi Paralympic team. I even read CNN while I'm in a movie theater waiting for the movie to start.
